Meet Eric VanWinkle, a Financial Advisor of RJFS and overseer of SBS Financial's qualified retirement plans business. As the team’s head of retirement plans, Eric works closely with business owners to design and implement the right qualified plan for their needs, whether that be a SIMPLE IRA, 401(k), Profit Sharing or Cash Balance Defined Benefit Plan.
Eric's journey to becoming a wealth advisor was inspired by a close friend in the industry and his own longstanding interest in personal finance. After years of encouragement, Eric left a 20-year career in broadcast TV to join SBS Financial. It was a decision he hasn’t looked back on since.
A graduate of Western Illinois University, Eric is insurance licensed and has earned Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist™ & Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor® designations. In 2025, Eric completed a Certificate of Graduate Study in Financial Planning from Northern Illinois University.
A devoted family man, Eric and his wife Leigh have raised up three awesome humans: Kayleigh, Emma, and Aaron and have two beloved dogs, a Standard Poodle named Josie and a Pudelpointer (a rare gundog breed) named Annabelle.
In his spare time, Eric enjoys a variety of hobbies, including shooting, upland bird hunting (with Annabelle), playing guitar, reading (lots of reading) and HAM radio activities. He is a member of NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association), Breakfast Optimist Club and serves as President of Moline Rotary. His diverse interests reflect his well-rounded approach to life and his commitment to continuous learning and growth.
