Meet James Schmertmann, a seasoned Certified Investment Management Analyst^® with SBS Financial. With over two decades in the industry, James brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role.

A graduate of the University of Iowa, James was drawn to advising because of his passion for connecting with people and learning their unique stories. He finds inspiration in the personal conversations he has with clients, which not only help him better manage their portfolios but also enrich his own life. James holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary^® (AIF^®), Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist™ (CRPS™) (CRPS conferred by College for Financial Planning), and Certified Investment Management Analyst^® (CIMA^®) licenses.

Outside of work, James is a devoted family man. He and his wife Roxanne (and best friend) have been married for over three decades and have two children, Brennen and Sarah, both of whom are married. Brennen is married to Karen, and they have four children. James also cherishes his incredible parents, Bernie and Ginny, who provided a nurturing environment for him and his four siblings.

In his spare time, James enjoys home improvement projects, a bit of RV renovation, and being part of the 9th grade Confirmation Class at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church.
